In every organisation there is the possibility that employees will be tempted to commit theft. Internal theft and ‘sweethearting’ can be a problem—particularly in retail. After all, the stuff is up for grabs! It is important that retailers not stick their heads in the sand, but rather look for ways to tackle internal fraud.
We work closely with an investigative bureau for fraud investigation. In addition, we advise retailers on what they themselves can do. For example, one can raise awareness among employees, and a different arrangement of the store’s stock can also help. Tightening existing procedures is often already sufficient to reduce the possibility of theft.
